Pirkner’s work mostly deals with human figures. He designed figures for a fountain in Wattens, a fountain on Sparkassenplatz in Innsbruck and the grave for Julien Green, who had wanted his grave designed by Pirkner. The artist also works on sculptures of horses and bulls. He created the Lower Saxony Fountain in Munster, which was unveiled on October 20, 1991 and, with eight horses symbolizing the eight former independent communities in Munster, is considered the largest work of art in the city to date. In 2014, Pirkner completed the “Bulls von Fuschl” at the Red Bull headquarters in Fuschl am See (Salzburg state). With a length of more than 22 meters, this herd of 14 larger-than-life bulls is considered the largest bronze sculpture in Europe.
